|
Welcome to Circle Dock's Help System which has been designed to combine on-line resources
with an off-line manual to help you get the most from the Circle Dock program.
If you are currently connected to the Internet, you will see a language translation "widget"
immediately under each help page's title. You can use this "widget" to translate the help page into
any of the 50+ languages that Circle Dock supports. This widget
is only used for the help pages,
the Help Browser has an automatic translation facility for online web pages as described below.
This program has a number of Tabs and each one contains a different help resource:
Circle Dock Help Tab is the one you're currently viewing - contains the off-line version of the
documentation for Circle Dock. You can not close this Tab.
If you are connected to the Internet, you'll see a further four Tabs:
· Main web site Tab will allow you to browse Circle Dock's web site.
· Support Forum Tab contains Circle Dock's Support Form on DonationCoder.com
· Issue Tracker Tab hosts Circle Dock's Issue Tracker where you can view current issues and
their status as well as enhancement requests etc.
· Add-ons Site Tab is where you can download extra icons and backgrounds from the Rocket
Dock website.
If you are currently accessing online web pages, two additional items are enabled on the tool bar:
Translate To: followed by a language name which defaults to being the same language as you
selected for Circle Dock.
Language Options: contains a drop-down menu with 2 selectable items
· Automatic translation (on/off): if enabled (ie: checked) then web pages will automatically
be translated as they are loaded. This defaults to "on".
· Select Language: allows you to select the language to translate to - if not the same as Translate To:
If your chosen language for Circle Dock is "English", you've no need to set any above-mentioned Language Options, your web pages will load normally and display in English.
Why two translation mechanisms?
In order to get the help pages translated, we have to imbed some special code into each help
page. This is essentially the same code that web designers incorporate into their pages. We do
this because the help pages are stored on your hard disk and can not be accessed directly (ie: as
a URL) by the Google Translate engine.
The other sites we load do not contain the Google Translate widget, so we have to use a slightly
different mechanism to get Google to translate the page. Essentially we instruct the web browser
to use a different URL, than the web page's normal URL, which passes to Google the URL of the
page it is to translate.
